How can knowing omega-3 fatty acid levels help my well-being?

There is some evidence that having normal Omega-3 fatty acid levels, in particular DHA, can decrease the risk of death in people with coronary artery disease by decreasing elevated triglyceride levels and keeping the arteries less “clogged”. Individuals with an Omega-3 Index between 8-12% had the lowest risk of death from heart disease, while individuals with an index below 4% had the highest. Individuals with high Omega-3 levels have a lower risk of developing dementia as they age and may have decreased risk of certain eye conditions such as macular degeneration and glaucoma.
