How often should I test for food allergies?

There is no limit to how often you can have IgE food allergy testing. People can develop new allergies over time. However, your reactivity levels alone are not enough to diagnose or rule out a food allergy. Your results should not be used to determine if your allergy has improved or worsened over time. These levels do not predict the severity of symptoms or changes in your symptoms over time.

Food trials should not be done based on the results of this test alone. Regardless of your test results and if they have changed over time, it’s important to follow up with your healthcare provider. Only an allergy specialist or your healthcare provider can diagnose or rule out a food allergy and help create a plan that’s right for you.
