Do shipping temperatures affect my kit or results?
Samples remain stable for a limited time, so it’s important to mail your kit promptly after collection. Temperatures in transit will not affect sample stability.
The only exception is our STD tests that require a urine sample. In extremely cold weather, the liquid preservative in the urine tube can freeze, which may cause the lab to reject the sample.
Here are some storage tips by sample type:
- Saliva samples: Send as soon as possible after collection. If you can’t ship the same day, store at room temperature until you’re ready to mail.
- Dried blood spot and urine samples: Keep at room temperature and out of direct sunlight until shipping.
